Own Your Home Arkansas

Yours. For good.

Arkansas · 2028

“You never truly own your home until the property tax is gone.”

The Problem

You never stop paying.

What is broken

It is rent, not ownership.

Pay off your mortgage in Arkansas and the bills keep coming. Miss one, and the county can take the home you already bought. That is not ownership. It is rent to the government, for life.

A young family finally burns the mortgage. A widow keeps the farmhouse her husband built. A veteran comes home for good. Every one of them still owes a bill they can never finish paying, and the penalty for falling behind is the roof over their head. A promise this basic should not have an asterisk.

The Plan

Phase it to zero.

How it works

Phased, funded, and protected.

The amendment does not flip a switch. It phases the property tax down to zero over years, on a schedule counties and schools can plan around. No cliff. No chaos. A steady, deliberate wind-down of a tax that outlived its purpose.

As each local dollar disappears, the state is constitutionally required to replace it. Every voter-approved bond stays protected until it is paid. Every school is kept whole. The money that used to leave your pocket every year simply stops, and the services it paid for keep running.

The Promise

Schools stay funded.

Our commitment

Nobody gets left behind.

End the property tax. Keep every classroom, deputy, and fire truck funded. Put the deed to your home back where it belongs, in your hands.

This is not a tax cut for some and a tax hike for others. It is a replacement, written into the constitution, that keeps our commitments to schools and counties while it ends the yearly toll on your home. The road to victory runs through all seventy-five counties, and it runs through you.

Why this fight

You did everything right. The bill still comes.

You worked, you saved, you bought a home, and you paid it off. You should be done. Instead the bill arrives again every year, and behind it stands the threat that the county can take what you already own.

That is the fight. Not against your neighbors, and not against the teachers and deputies your taxes pay. It is against a system that never lets you finish. For twenty-one years I defended a simple idea: what you earn is yours. This is that same idea, brought home.

You are the one who ends it. I will carry the plan to all seventy-five counties. You carry the signature, the conversation, the neighbor you bring along. That is how citizens change a constitution. That is how we win.

Phased. Funded. Protected.

01

Phased

The tax winds down to zero on a set schedule. No cliff, no shock, no surprise for families or counties.

02

Funded

The state is constitutionally required to replace every local dollar. Schools and counties are kept whole.

03

Protected

Every voter-approved bond stays protected until the day it is paid in full. Promises already made are kept.

The Schools Answer

“The amendment requires the state to replace every dollar schools, counties, and cities receive today. If the state writes the check instead of your county collector, your kids’ school does not lose a dime, and you keep your home.”

For the Arkansas Bar

Your oath still matters.

Every citizen movement that ever changed a state was defended by lawyers with the courage to stand in the gap. Ours will be challenged. The last property tax fight in North Dakota faced a hundred organizations. We will face the same here.

We need Arkansas attorneys who believe a person should own what they have paid for. Attorneys who will help us write a ballot title that survives the Supreme Court, protect our canvassers, and keep this petition airtight from the first signature to the last.

This is pro bono work at the founding of something historic. If you are licensed in Arkansas and you believe in this, we need you at the front.
